Livestock Educators work with local producers in areas such as nutrition, reproduction, grazing management, Beef and Pork Quality Assurance, and best production practices. Other interests include small acreage animal and land management along youth programming such as livestock judging and evaluation, showmanship, and small animal care. The Livestock Educators for the West 2 Field Education Unit are Penny Nester based in Meade County and Robin Salverson based in Harding County.

Services Provided:

  • Livestock recommendations via telephone, e-mail, and walk-in visits
  • On site livestock water testing (total dissolved solids), forage nitrate testing and ration balancing services are available.
  • Sample containers and information on feed and livestock water suability testing from SDSU Biochemistry Lab.
  • Ranch, pasture, and small acreage visits will be conducted when necessary to gather additional information about a specific problem.
