Sturgis, SD - To meet new Federal requirements - the street, regulatory and advisory signs in Meade County will be replaced.  A Federal Highway Safety Fund grant was acquired to accomplish this task with no local funds expended.  Currently underway, this project should be completed by July 31, 2015.

Many non-maintained secondary roads will be signed:

  • Stakes will be placed a minimum of ten feet off the shoulder of the road to provide the utility companies locations where signs will be placed.
  • Salvaged signs will be recycled with the required higher reflective sheeting.
  • Signs that can’t be recycled with be sold via surplus auction.
