Weed and Pest

Meade County Weed and Pest is responsible for the implementation of an integrated management plan for invasive species throughout the county.  This plan requires co-operation with private landowners, government and non-government agencies, and the Meade County Weed and Pest Board.  The duties of Meade County Weed and Pest are to control the spread of invasive species on County Right-of-Ways and to assist private landowners and major stakeholders with proper management techniques and strategies.  Only with full participation from all parties can we develop a strategic plan to limit the expenses we all endure due to these new and established invaders.

Work performed by Meade County Weed and Pest include managing invasive species infestations through biological, chemical, and cultural methods.  These tasks include treating invasive plants along roadsides and waterways, managing prairie dogs to limit the spread of infestations and diseases, and the trapping, monitoring and treatment of mosquitoes throughout the county
