Absentee Voting Has Begun For 2026 Primary Election

Meade County absentee voting has begun at the Auditor’s Office for the 2026 Primary Election. Office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday.

Please bring your photo ID with you to vote in person. Approved IDs include: South Dakota driver’s license or nondriver ID, U.S. passport or other U.S. government-issued photo ID, Military ID, Student ID from a South Dakota high school or college, or Tribal photo ID

To receive a ballot by mail, submit an Absentee Ballot Application found here https://www.meadecounty.org/auditor-forms
and include a copy of your ID.

The Meade County Auditor’s Office has not yet received ballots for the 2026 Primary Election. Absentee voting, scheduled to begin April 17, may be delayed until ballots arrive.

Please call 605-347-2360 before coming to vote to inquire about ballot status. 

To receive a ballot by mail, submit an Absentee Ballot Application found here https://www.meadecounty.org/auditor-forms, and include a copy of your ID, which may be one of the following:

South Dakota driver’s license or nondriver ID, or U.S. passport or other U.S. government-issued photo ID, or Military ID, or Current student ID from a South Dakota high school or college, or Tribal photo ID

Absentee Ballot Application forms are also available at the Auditor’s Office.

April is National County Government Month and in honor of that Meade County is hosting its 5th annual art contest with this year’s theme being favorite outdoor activity. We encourage the public to stop in and enjoy these amazing pieces of artwork that are done by Meade County students of all ages.
